India's Ministry of Defence has issued a major tender for 60 medium transport aircraft to replace the Indian Air Force's ageing An-32 fleet. The programme is expected to involve global aerospace companies alongside Indian industrial partners under the country's indigenisation framework.
The requirement calls for a platform capable of tactical airlift, paradrop operations and short-field performance across a range of terrain, including high-altitude airstrips along India's northern borders.
Industry sources expect a formal request for proposals within the next two quarters, with final assembly and a significant share of components expected to be sourced domestically.
