Canada has launched its Defence Drone Initiative to accelerate the development, testing and production of uncrewed and autonomous systems, creating a supplier marketplace open to domestic industry.
The initiative spans unmanned systems (UxS), counter-UAS technologies, communications, systems integration, testing and experimentation, positioning Canadian suppliers to compete for future procurement opportunities.
Officials say the framework is designed to shorten the path from prototype to fielded capability, with recurring supplier engagement sessions planned through the coming year.
“The initiative creates a supplier marketplace covering UxS, counter-UAS, communications and integration.”
